South Africa outplayed the Bangladesh Tigers with 333 runs in the 1st Test even though both the teams were equally competent. The experience and class of South Africans took them over the finish line for the first test. The second test match is scheduled to start on 6th October, 2017 at Mangaung Oval ground in Bloemfontein.
The average first innings score of Mangaung Oval is 370, second innings score is 340, 3rd innings score is 237 and the 4th innings score is 78. The Highest total at this ground, 563/10, was lodged by the Proteas against India and the lowest total, 153/10, was lodged by Bangladesh against the Proteas. Bangladesh cricket team has come a long way since then and here is the squad prediction for the 2nd Test Match:
Bangladesh is expected to go with the same test squad, while South Africa has a few changes:
Bangladesh Cricket Team:
Mushfiqur Rahim (c), Subashis Roy, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shafiul Islam, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Liton Das, Mehidy Hasan, Mominul Hawue, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal
South African Cricket Team:
Faf du Plessis (c), Wayne Parnell, Kasigo Rabada, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dane Paterson, Duanne Olivier, Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj, Dean Elgar, Quinton de Kock, Theunis de Bruyn, Temba Bavuma and Hashim Amla
The performance of the Tigers was a little disheartening, but they are expected to step up the game this time around. Here is the match prediction:
Players to Watch Out For
Hashim Amla, Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Faf du Plessis and Temba Bavuma topped the charts with the maximum runs in the first test match. The Bangladesh players followed them, therefore, Bangladesh batting order is expected to come back strong, and they will try to keep wickets in hand so that they too can post big totals or chase them down.
The top three wicket takers also belonged to South Africa in the first test match. Keshav Maharaj topped the charts followed by Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel. Bangladesh’s star bowler, Mustafizur Rahman came in number 4. This concludes South African players batted against him smartly and didn’t take many chances. Mustafizur is expected to bring in more of his variations and play like he is supposed to.
Hashim Amla is the key to South Africa’s success. He batted wonderfully in the previous test match and is expected to stay on crease for as long as possible. It is going to be fun to see the competition between Mustafizur Rahman and Hashim Amla.
The Bangladesh team needs to come back strongly or else they might lose the moral needed to continue the rest of their tour.
The match is still more inclined towards Proteas as the Bangladeshi side is visiting and Proteas is a stronger test side. If all Bangladeshi players play their part perfectly, they might end up winning, but still more chances are for the South Africans to win the Test series 2-0.
