Pakistan vs Srilanka, 3rd T20I
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan, 2019
Wednesday, 09th October, 2019; 07:00 PM IST
The Lahore Stadium pitch is expected to have some turn and looks like on the slower side. It is a two- paced wicket which means variations to play big role. Winning the toss and batting first would be the ideal situation on this pitch. Expect a score around 160 as this pitch has been used for the last 2 T20Is.
The weather forecast is promising with little or no chance of rain playing spoilsport. Expect a full 40 overs game.
Srilanka: Team News and Playing XI:
Srilanka didn’t have the best ODI series but they prove their mettle in the shortest version of the game. In the previous match, Bhanuka Rajaprash set the game with the bat. His quick 77 runs of 48 balls set the tone for the game. At pitch where other batsmen were struggling, he showed his range of shots and get his team to a total of 182. As far as bowling is concern, Wanindu was the difference between the two sides. His variations and googlies made doubt in the mind of Pakistan batsman His 3fer alongside Nuwan Pradeep and Isuru extraordinary showcase of death bowling, guaranteed them 35 runs triumph.
- No changes are expected in the Srilankan side. Each player has delivered whenever the team required him.
Danushka Gunathilaka, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka(c), Shehan Jayasuriya, Isuru Udana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Minod Bhanuka(w), Lakshan Sandakan, Kasun Rajitha, Nuwan Pradeep
Pakistan: Team News and Probable XI:
Pakistan’s dip in the T20i form has continued in this series, with the batting falling well short in both games so far. Mohammad Hasnain took a hat-trick (across two overs) in the first game but it proved the only highlight of otherwise disappointing home performance – Pakistan bowled out for 101 chasing 166 to win. In the previous match, they fared a little better, bowled out for 147. But it was again well short of the target of 183 to win in Lahore.
Pakistan had recalled Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal for the series but both batsmen failed to produce the goods. So we can expect some changes in the lineup.
- The home side might make a few changes in their playing XI keeping the failures of the previous two games in mind.
- Umar Akmal didn’t have best of comeback in to the national side. He has been out for a golden duck in both the matches. So, he can be replaced by Haris Sohail who can bat as well as bowl some left-arm spin.
- The move to put Ahmed Shazad hasn’t worked in their favor. With two established openers already in the squad, he might sit out in place of Faheem Ashraf.
Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Umar Akmal/Haris Sohail, Ahmed Shazad/Faheem Ashraf, Sarfaraz Ahmed(w/c), Asif Ali, Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hasnain
Captain/ Vice Captain Choices for Fantasy Team:
He didn’t have the best of outing in the previous 2 matches, but nothing taken for granted for No.1 T20I batsman. He had a good NatWest T20 blast series with Somerset, so expect him to blast in the final match.
He is been is amazing form in this whole series. 57 off 38 balls in the first match and looked really promising in the second match. He has gotten quick-runs and has a sound technique, so expect him to go big.
He has been of the promising talent for the Srilankan cricket. He has got a sound technique and great hand eye coordination. Although he hasn’t been in the runs in this series, but can end this series on a high note.
Srilanka has already clinched a historic T20I series against the no.1 T20I side. With youthful fellows and new training staff, they have beaten the lion in their own sanctum. But cannot take Pakistan for granted, If Babar Azam gets going then its Pakistan game else we could see a historic clean sweep at Gaddafi Stadium.
