Pakistan Vs. New Zealand, 3rd Test, Dec 03-07: Match Preview & Prediction

The ongoing Pakistan New Zealand bilateral series is approaching an end with the last of the three tests getting underway on December 03, 2018 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The series has been a revelation of sorts with Pakistanis putting together decent performances throughout to claim T20 series 3-nil and tie the ODI at one all. The test series has also panned out well for both teams and cricket enthusiasts with the score line reading 1-1. The forthcoming test apparently assumes significance since the winner will not only win the test but the series as well. So, expect a riveting contest in the series showdown, as both teams will go for the kill.

Pakistan certainly has the edge for they are playing at their adopted home, Abu Dhabi. Of late, they have played the bulk of the cricket at this venue and hence, are familiar with the pitch and weather here. The team looks balanced provided the batsmen come to the party yet again. Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed would be anticipating a solid start from the openers, Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez, for the likes of Azhar Ali, Haris Sohail and Babar Azam in the middle order to capitalize on. His trump card yet again will be the wily leg-spinner, Yasir Shah who decimated the Kiwi batting in the 2nd test to end up with the staggering figures of 14/184.

New Zealand, on the other hand, has to take certain issues head on to turn the tables on a buoyed Pakistanis. Batting has been the biggest concern for the Kiwis, as no one showing any application or spine to counter the inspired opposition led by Yasir Shah. In fact, the team collapsed at just 90 runs in the first innings with 6 batsmen failing to open their account. Captain Kane Williamson has to lead from the front simply because he is the most accomplished of all Kiwi batsmen against swing and spin.
