IPL Auction 2018: Here’s Kings XI Punjab Player List

Apart from the 2014 season, when Kings XI Punjab were the runners up, the team has not been performing that well. In 2017, Kings XI nearly made it to the playoffs. So, it is not surprising that the entire squad has been revamped barring one player.

Players Retained

This year, the teams had an option to retain players. Kings XI Punjab decided to retain just one player and is Axar Patel. It was not a surprise as considering the team’s performance in the previous IPL seasons, it was expected that Kings XI would go for a fresh team.

Axar Patel would the 2014 Emerging Player of the Year award. Ever since, he has been growing from strength to strength. He is a lower order batsman who is capable of scoring runs and handy with the ball.

Other Players

Yuvraj Singh has come back into the side. He was their marquee player in the 2008 edition of the IPL. Other players, who also have a presence in the national side, have been successfully purchased by Kings XI Punjab in the auction. They include KL Rahul, Manoj Tiwary, Karun Nair and Mayank Agarwal. These players have ample experience in playing in the IPL and would be expected to contribute to the team.

Kings XI Punjab has selected R. Ashwin to lead the side. They have also managed to get big hitters like Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch. The team has also staged a coup by getting specialist T20 players like David Miller and Marcus Stoinis.
