The final match of the 3-match ODI arrangement between India Women and South Africa Women will be facilitated by the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara. The match will be played on 14th October at 09:00 IST. Riding on half-centuries from Mithali Raj and Punam Raut, India scripted their highest successful chase of 248 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. South Africa posted a good total on the board but could not defend the target despite being quality bowling attack. Although, the series already been lost, they would look to negate the clean sweep. Also, taking some pride from this game.
India Women vs South Africa Women, 3rd ODI
Venue: Reliance Stadium,Vadodara
Series: South Africa Women tour of India, 2019
Date & Time: Oct 14, 09:00 AM IST
The surface on offer was a decent one for the 2nd ODI. Also, there is a little bit of turn in the pitch and the slow bowlers will continue to have their say. More so, if the same strip is used, then the spinners will extract more turn from the 22 yards.
We expect the weather to be clean and sunny on the day of match. The sun will be out for the whole duration of the match and the temperatures will soar as the day progresses.
India Women: Team News and Playing XI:
India was able to cope up and put in a masterful performance against the South Africans and clinched the series. Earlier in the innings, India took a bold decision to put the visitors to bat and chase the total as the pitch slow down as the match progresses and batting becomes more difficult. The visitors upped their batting game. They posted a strong 247 on the board courtesy a half-century from Laura Wolvaardt (69). However, Mithali Raj (66) forged a 129-run partnership with Raut (65) that laid the foundation of the chase despite suffering two early blows.
Harmanpreet Kaur provided the finishing touches as India marched to the series win with five wickets and two overs to spare. In the bowling department, again the spinners Bisht and Poonam were amongst the wicket along with allrounder Shikha Pandey who grabbed 2 wickets each. With series already been thrown, it’s about clean sweeping this pro teas side.
- We don’t expect any changes from the Indian side that featured in the second ODI.
Probable XI: Jemimah Rodrigues, Punam Raut, Mithali Raj (c), Harmanpreet Kaur, Priya Punia, Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Ekta Bisht, Jhulan Goswami, Poonam Yadav
South Africa: Team News and Playing XI:
South Africa showed marked improvement in the batting department with key contributions coming from nearly all batters. Lizelle Lee (40 off 54) and Wolvaardt (69) were both quick in the field. Putting on 76 runs for the opening stand was a great effort by both the batsman, but Poonam Yadav provided India the much-needed breakthrough as Lee fell 10 short of her fifty. Wolvaardt continued to stitch up partnership with others and took her team to a very good total. But their spin department looks really ineffective to breach though the defense of Mithali and Raut as the duo cleaned up the match quite comfortably. The skipper Sune Luus will hope that her troops redeem themselves in the final ODI and take some positives out of the series.
- Lara Goodall came in place of Nadine de Klerk. She played a decent knock of 38, so she will retain her place.
- No changes are expected, unless there is an injury concern.
Probable XI: Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolvaardt, Lara Goodall, Trisha Chetty (wk), Mignon du Preez, Sune Luus (c), Marizanne Kapp, Nondumiso Shangase, Ayabonga Khaka, Shabnim Ismail, Tumi Sekhukhune
Captain/Vice-Captain Choices for Fantasy Teams:
Mithali Raj would be the first choice captain for every team. She is the Virat Kohli of the womens cricket. Being the captain of the team and the most experienced player, you can expect consistency from her.
Although she was pushed down the order in the batting position, but we can expect any time from her to deliver. Due to her all-round show in the first match made her the first choice captain/vice-captain for the Fantasy leagues
Captain Choices for Grand leagues:
- Deepti Sharma
- Sune Luus
- Jemimah Rodrigues
- Poonam Yadav
Apne XI Prediction:
Comparing the two sides on paper and form in the series so far, the Indians are the favorites as well as the safer team. So, we expect India to take this series by 3-0.
