India tour of West Indies 2019; ODI

Sunday, 11th August 2019; 7:00 PM IST.

Pitch Report

Although, this is the first match of the tour at Port of Spain, history suggests the pitch will favor the batsmen early on. The question remains as to whether it will hold up, or if it starts to offer something for the spinners on a breaking surface.

Weather Forecast

Even though it will be hot and humid in Trinidad, Sunday’s weather forecast show it will be sunny with a slight chance of rain. Temperatures will approximately be in the thirties.

Preview

West Indies and India head to Port of Spain after being frustrated by the rain in the first ODI of this series. The match at the Queen’s Park Oval takes place on August 11 and the live action begins at 09:30 local time.

India is looking to continue the form they showed in the T20i series which preceded this, where they won all three matches. Let us not forget that they also thrashed West Indies at the World Cup.

West Indies were below-par at the World Cup. However, they are looking to bounce back in this series. They’ll surely try to start building some momentum before the inaugural Cricket World Cup Super League – the ODI championship. As that determines the qualification for the next World Cup.

Probable Line Ups

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions

Wicket Keeper –

Perhaps West Indies’ best batsman, Shai Hope has always been a consistent performer for them. Although he didn’t have a great World Cup 2019, Hope should score some runs against a good Indian attack on Sunday. Rishabh Pant is also one to watch out for with his attacking instincts holding him in good stead.

Batsman-

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are both 10.5 and 11 credits respectively. However, both could be worth picking up, given their recent ODI form. As both of them will certainly be key men for India. Although, that does not really leave enough credits to also pick Shikhar Dhawan, who is ten credits. Certainly, Chris Gayle can be picked up for eight credits in All Rounder category, as can Shimron Hetmyer. Additionally, Evin Lewis is 8 credits. Though, Lewis was in better form in the brief bit of play possible in the first game but do not back against Gayle roaring back with a big score.

All-Rounders-

Ravindra Jadeja, Chris Gayle and anyone of Carlos Braithwaite or Jason Holder must be in your team. Chris Gayle will be as a batsman in the team as he doesn’t bowl too often in ODI cricket. Jason Holder should be in your Fantasy team with the conditions favouring swing bowling. Due to his big-hitting ability he should earn some fantasy points.

Bowlers-

One of Mohammad Shami or Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be picked with the balance of the side kept in mind. Kuldeep Yadav took the only wicket to fall last time out, meanwhile, and is 8.5 credits so he must in your team. Sheldon Cottrell will lead the West Indies’ pace attack and will be a must-have. Of course, lets keep in mind the balance of the team and what he is capable off.

Captain/ Vice-Captain-

Virat Kohli wasn’t able to score a hundred in the CWC 2019 and would love to start the new season on a high. Expect him to come up with a good knock while Rohit Sharma’s five centuries were a display of his best form and he is a good pick as captain. Alternatively, any one of them can be select as vice-captain for your fantasy line up.

Apne11 Match Prediction

India dominated the T20i series and overpowered the West Indies in their most recent ODI meeting at the World Cup. Obviously, they are favored to win this game and it would be unnerving if they did not live up to that.
