India vs Sri Lanka Dec’17, 1st T20I Match: Preview & Prediction

(1st T20I Match) India vs Sri Lanka Cricket Match: Preview & Prediction by Golden Jeeto

The exciting T20I series between India and Sri Lanka is going to start on 20th of December 2017 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. T20I is the most famous limited overs format and will have the highest number of viewers and supporters. This pitch has a variable bounce and it assists spinners really well. The last international T20 was played in 2015 between India and South Africa and the highest total was only 96. There have been higher scoring IPL matches here, which are also played in the T20 format. But, on an average, this ground is a low scoring one.

As far as the teams are concerned, both India and Sri Lanka are excellent T20 teams and with the last few setbacks, Sri Lanka is ready to bounce back and take on the home team. They have already shown strength and tactics as they won the first ODI and put pressure on the home team and looks like they are ready for more.

Players to Watch and Match Prediction:

Here are our predictions and players to watch out for:

It is important in T20Is that the opening batsmen perform well, which is why both Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul need to step up. Shreyas Iyer has huge shoes to fill in as he is the number 3 batsman in the team, position of Captain Virat Kohli. He has performed admirably in this position in IPLs, and we hope he would do the same in T20Is as well. Star bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is missing from the squads as well, which is why his counterpart Jasprit Bumrah has an even more important role to play.

Since the start of the Sri Lankan tour, one man has baffled everyone with his bowling skills. Suranga Lakmal is the most crucial element from the Sri Lankan side and needs to show the same level of bowling as he did in the first test and ODI. Thisara Perera is doing wonders as a captain, but is lacking a little in the bowling department and his team needs an experienced bowler like him. So far, the batting department has lacked as far as T20s are concerned and Sri Lanka needs to take a closer look at that if they want to win this series.

It is very difficult to beat a home team in T20Is, but it has been done on this very ground before, which is why this game could go either way. The men in blue are still the crowd favourites and might clinch this series as well!
