India Vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Match, Dec 13, 2017: Preview & Prediction

Sri Lanka’s Tour of India 2017 started with a drawn test and a lost test. The 3rd test seems to be on the way to a draw as well. This is not the start Sri Lankans hoped for. Both the bowling and batting of India has been top class, but Sri Lankan bowlers have lacked to put pressure on the Indian batsmen. The batsmen also couldn’t cause any damage. ODI is a faster format and needs a much fitter and quicker performance from both the bowlers and the batsmen.

The second ODI match is going to be held at MCA Stadium in Mohali. Mohali is a known batting pitch and Sri Lankan batsmen need to step up to cause some sort of impact on the game. The Sri Lankan team is strong on paper, but isn’t able to perform in recent matches and they need to show their might in this series. The Men in Blue, on the other hand, have dominated all their series this year and this couldn’t have been a better year for the captain with records after records.

Match Prediction and Players to Watch:

Here are a few players to watch and match prediction:

Captain Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews and Niroshan Dickwella are the only players that have been able to cause some trouble to the Indian bowling attack. They need to keep their form up and play longer innings so that their team has a fighting total. Suranga Lakmal needs to step up as he had an excellent spell in the first test, but not so much in the other tests. Rangana Herath and Angelo Mathews are other bowlers who could win the game for Sri Lanka.

Without Virat, the number 3 position should definitely go to new comer Shreyas Iyer. Although openers Shikhar and Rohit are expected to bet for at least the first 15 overs, Shreyas is going to have a huge opportunity and responsibility. We have high hopes from the youngster. Indian bowler duo Bhuvi and Bhumrah are crowd favourites as always and spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel are expected to put on a good show as well.

It is difficult to predict an outcome as the driving force of Indian cricket team will be missing the ODI series. Even without Virat Kohli, the Indian team still looks really strong and are clearly the favourites for the 2nd ODI but Sri Lankans are known to give surprises.
