England vs. India, 2nd T20I, July 06, Fri: Match Preview & Prediction

Match preview:

With India romping home with an impressive display of skills and temperament in the first T20I on Tuesday, July 03, the spotlight has shifted to the second encounter scheduled on July 06 in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. While the visiting team will be keen to keep the winning streak going, the Englishmen will be looking to put their act together and turn the tables on the buoyed Indians. The contest is supposed to be a decider of sorts – a win here will give India an unassailable lead in the series, making the final encounter inconsequential. Contrarily, if England manages to subdue Indians with an inspired performance, the series is alive and kicking.

Both the teams are riding high on their recent exploits, as India is yet to face a loss since the previous seven encounters, and England recently gave arch-rivals Australia a 5-0 drubbing in an ODI series. Despite the win, the visitors have their share of woes, especially with the new ball. Their pace spearhead, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was taken to the cleaners by English top order while his new ball partner Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the T20I series. On the other hand, England has to devise ways to counter Kuldeep Yadav who was at his deceptive best in the previous encounter, putting up the career-best performance of 5/24.

Although India looks pretty invincible, England has what it takes to fight back. The winning chance could be 60% for India and 40% for England. It is all about individual performances that have little to do with the outcome of the contest. So, we are here to add nuance to your selection decisions, keeping you good for wins.

It all boils down to the two openers on the opposite sides – Jos Butler and Rohit Sharma. Whoever can give a good start, will help the middle order MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan the foothold to win the game more easily.
