One of the most important club games in the world – the Champions League – starts on Tuesday. Thirty-two teams will compete in the group stage. Who has the best chances for the final triumph, who will be the top scorer, what are the chances of the teams in each group?

Who will win the Champions League?

The previous edition ended with Liverpool’s triumph. Now Juergen Klopp’s players are going to play an essential role on the road to the final as well. However, most experts and bookmakers put in the biggest favourite position, another English team – Manchester City.

Traditionally, two Spanish giants – Barcelona and Real Madrid – are also listed among the biggest favourites.

However, according to bookmakers, the team from Catalonia has higher chances over the Los Blancos. The next places, according to bookmakers, are Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Who is going to be the best scorer?

From the 2007/09 season, the crown of the top scorer went into the hands of Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Only in the 2014/15 season, another player reached for the crown – Neymar. Ronaldo has more triumphs on his account – 7. Messi has so far triumphed in this classification six times. Last season, with twelve hits. How will it be in the 2019/20 season? Both, which is not surprising, are bookmakers’ favourites for this title. Messi is given a slightly better chance.

Other candidates? The next places are taken by representatives of the two currently best English clubs – Manchester City (Sergio Aguero) and Liverpool (Mohamed Salah). The last player with the highest chances to become a top scorer is a Bayern Munich striker – Robert Lewandowski.

Champions League group stage predictions

Group A

Group A has two strong favourites which are also among the leading candidates for the final triumph. They are Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain bands. We give Los Blancos a slightly better chance of winning the first place, but there is no doubt that it will be between these teams that the first place in Group A will be decided. The teams Galatasaray Istanbul and Club Brugge will probably have to settle for a fight between themselves to end the group competition in third place.

Group B

Group B also has two clear favourites. The teams from Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur should fight for the first place, although Bavarians have better results before the start of the competition. It does not seem that the teams of Olympiacos Piraeus and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade would be able to threaten the two in the fight for promotion to the knockout stage.

Group C

The competition in Group C should take place under the dictation of Manchester City, which, as we have already mentioned, is also considered by experts as the favourite for the final victory. The competition for the second place, which also gives a promotion to the knockout stage is going to be compelling. Atalanta Bergamo and Shakhtar Donetsk should fight for it. The Ukrainians will have an advantage of experience in the Champions League in the past. Meanwhile, Dinamo Zagreb’s team is likely to become the definite outsider of Group C. Nevertheless, none of her rivals can afford to approach them disrespectfully.

Group D

Juventus or Atletico Madrid? Who will win in the Champions’ League group D? Only such a question arises looking at the composition of this group. Italians and Spaniards are a definite favourite of competition and should decide among themselves the matter of first place in the group. It seems that Bayer Leverkusen’s team, and even less Lokomotiv Moscow, can join the fight for one of the first two places.

Group E

The winner of the previous edition of the Champions League – Liverpool, the way to defend the title will begin in the group stage with Napoli, Red Bull Salzburg and Racing Genk. Juergen Klopp’s players are the favourite to take first place, although they certainly cannot underestimate Napoli. The Red Bull Salzburg and Racing Genk should mainly be the points supplier for the above team and decide among themselves the issue of third place.  Here we definitively put Austrian team.

Group F

One of the most promising competition will happen in group F, where hit three big clubs – FC Barcelona, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund. The favourite to take first place is of course club for Catalonia, but it seems that Messi’s team will not have an easy way to the knockout stage. Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan massively strengthened in the summer. The goal of both is also to advance to the knockout stage, so the fight is going to be very interesting.

Group G

Group G seems to be the most even of all groups in this year Champions League. It is challenging to pick a definite favourite here. Each of the four teams seems to have similar chances to advance to the knockout stage. Odds of bookmakers indicate that RB Leipzig has the best chances of taking first place in Group G, although Olympique Lyon and Benfica Lisbon are serious rivals.

Group H

Emotion should not be missing in matches of group H to which Ajax Amsterdam, Chelsea, Lille and Valencia went. Chelsea is considered the favourite to take first place.

Slightly lower are the chances of the revelation of the previous edition – Ajax Amsterdam and Spanish Valencia. After personnel changes in the summer, the Dutch will have difficulties to come out as well as the last season.   The great unknown also accompanies Valencia since the club management as recently fired coach Marcelino.

We are curious about what is going to happen in the following Champions League season. Stay with us to keep up with the latest football news and tips.
